If you have found this website, you are likely searching for a qualified clinician to help you address emotional, mental, or behavioral challenges. Dr. Gottlieb is committed to providing thoughtful, individualized care and will do everything possible to help you find relief and improve your quality of life. He offers treatment on a self-pay basis and, when appropriate, will assist patients in finding alternative clinicians or specialists whose expertise may better fit their needs.

This website provides information about common treatment approaches for conditions such as depression, anxiety, mood disorders, attention difficulties, compulsive behaviors, relationship concerns, substance abuse, and other emotional and mental health issues. While educational information can be helpful, a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation is often necessary to develop a personalized treatment plan. Each patient’s genetics, psychological development, life experiences, and current challenges are unique and deserve individualized care.

Many individuals first seek support from primary care physicians or other healthcare providers, who may successfully manage symptoms with standard psychiatric medications. In more complex cases, however, a psychiatrist’s specialized training can be essential in developing advanced diagnostic evaluations and treatment strategies. Psychiatrists are uniquely trained to manage difficult-to-treat conditions, complex medication regimens, and psychoanalytic psychotherapy. In some situations, medication alone may not be sufficient, and psychotherapy becomes an important component of effective treatment. At times, medication may not be indicated at all and could delay more appropriate therapeutic care.

A thorough psychiatric evaluation can help prevent unnecessary delays in treatment, reduce suffering, and, when possible, address the underlying psychological factors contributing to symptoms. This is where working with an experienced psychiatrist and psychoanalyst such as Dr. Gottlieb can be especially valuable.

To schedule an initial evaluation, please call the office during regular business hours. Non-urgent voicemail messages are typically returned within 24 hours. For urgent but non-life-threatening concerns, such as serious medication side effects, patients are encouraged to leave detailed information regarding the best times to be reached. Evening and weekend calls are forwarded to an answering service, which can contact Dr. Gottlieb or the covering physician when necessary. In the event of a life-threatening emergency, patients should call 911 immediately rather than wait for a return call.
